There is danger from all men. The only maxim of a free government ought to be to trust no man living with power to endanger the public liberty.

Sabbatical 1997-2001

  • After stints of charitable volunteer dentistry, some with my sons, which I enjoyed very much, I was asked if I would serve as a long term volunteer at the Bible School of Gilead, where ministers from all over the world are trained for foreign Christian Missions, and where ministers who have oversight of church administration are given additional training at Patterson Educational Center in Patterson, New York. Meeting the friends from Zimbabwe, Sweden, Britain, Chuk, Chile, Germany,  and all over, and working with a diverse dental staff that was like family, including Jelle and Lia from the Netherlands,  was one of the nicest privileges of my life.

Community, Service, and Interests

  • Family, five kids, has been a home school dad four years

  • Foundation Quarter Horses

  • Church elder 10 years

  • Dental/Medical Mission to Honduras, Roatan

  • Charitable Volunteer (See above)

  • Licensed in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas

  • Obtained license by credentials in New York for Christian Missions from 1997-2001, could easily be licensed in Massachusetts, and other states and foreign countries that license by credential.

  • If you (or your wife or kids) dream of taking your family to Europe or Costa Rica for three weeks, or if you would like three or six months off to take a course at the Culinary Institute, or do something you’ve always wanted to while you are still active and healthy, but need a dentist with experience and a commitment to excellence to cover your practice so that you can relax, references are available upon request.

  •  Our fee is nine hundred dollars per day, and cost of PLI for the term period. Most practices choose a three or four day week, plus airfare or milage to and from site. You won't make much money, but you won't lose any either, like we did when we took our kids for three weeks to the Maritime Provinces of Canada, or to Puerta Vallarta, the Grand Canyon, or Little St. Simon Island, Georgia.

  • You can relax, like Dr. Billy Morgan of Brush Country Dental Center did, when he left for Italy to visit his daughter who was a landscape architecture student at Texas A and M studying in Italy for a semester. Dr. Morgan knew that an experienced dentist could interface with the Oral Surgeon, Pediatric Dentist, and Orthodontist that are part of the Brush Country Dental Center, and keep the staff and patients happy, so that Billy could seamlessly continue his practice, though he and Jeanette were drinking Chianti and touring Tuscany.

  • Plus, if you are contemplating selling your practice, you can hire an excellent experienced dentist to up your practice production to make it more salable. After six months of our working together, Dr. Morgan was able to hire a third dentist, and she was able to purchase half of the practice just a year out of school because of the numbers. Congratulations Dr. Shelley Richter! They will make a great team!

  • The last practice I worked for needed help because the doctor wanted to open an upscale state of the art office in Olive Branch. His brand new start-up produced $1, 300, 000 the first year because I could cover most of his old his practice.

  • We swap. If you've a timeshare in Washington or Paris, or a stud fee on a good foundation quarter horse, let's talk. We've traded professional services for Saltillo tile laying, land clearing, construction, and art. We report all swaps on income tax return, which isn't hard. My wife is a federal lawyer who won the American Jurisprudence 2nd Award in Contracts, so we can fax you a sample contract, should you like.

  • References from dentists I have worked with and/or on sent upon request.

  • Dr. Billy Morgan of Pleasanton, Texas

  • Dr. Edward Senior of Wallkill, New York

  • Dr. Keith Linn of Brooklyn, New York

  • Dr. Orlin Johnston of Wallkill, New York

  • Dr. Jelle Altenburg of Selters, Germany

  • Dr. Guy Feaker of Terrell, Texas, was unfortunately no more when I covered his practice for the estate, but was reputed to be an excellent and honest dentist.

  • References on request from staff I have worked with and/or on include

  • Tia Pratt, RDH

  •  Reference from Executor of the Estate of Dr. Guy Feaker

  • Pam Page, Terrell, Texas

  • Recent dental education, includes 75+ hours

  •  John C. Kois's  A Day of Restorative Excellence

  • John West's  The Total Endodontic Experience

  • West's  Pro Taper Rotary Shaping

  • Gloria McNeill and  David Latz's  Creating the Esthetic Provisional  Crown

  •   Invisalign OrthodonticsCertification I, Invisalign Case Review

  • Tennessee Association of Cosmetic Dentists "Realizing the Dream", Dr. Steve Rasner

  • Ceramic Restorations, Dr. Joel Benk, CEREC "Designing the Perfect Restoration in One Visit"  Course

Or you can contact Dr. Walker Swaney of Oxford, Mississippi, who was my old neighbor colleague in private practice, who had me extract his upper third molar.  My first  patient who  anesthetized himself before coming in! Mississippians are innovative. I did crown preps for Dr. Don Newcomb, whose office I bought, but he put them in himself.

References and Mission Statement are for dentists only, who wish to hire a temp dentist or associate. Next available  date, March 15, 2009.

Would love to hear from you!
